PROFESSOR IAIN HUTCHISON

Professor Hutchison is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at St Bartholomew’s, The Royal London and University College London Hospitals. He is also the Honorary Chief Executive of Saving Faces – The Facial Surgery Research Foundation and Director of the National Facial, Oral and Oculoplastic Research Centre (NFORC). He was appointed to a professorship in 2007 and founded the United Kingdom Oral Cancer Research Group. Iain has written for many publications and is in great demand as a lecturer and expert media commentator, and has been nominated for the 2008 Beacon Award for new initiatives in charity. He was also a past President of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS).

FRAN RIDOUT

Fran is the Clinical Research Manager of NFORC. Her background is in psychology but she has worked in various fields including teaching, Information Technology, psychometric test development and validation, psychopharmacology and surgical trials. She was a member of the PACTS (Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety) from 2001 until 2003. Her publications cover a range of psychotropic substances as well as health education. She has presented at many conferences both in the UK and overseas. She now assists in the management and running of the National Head and Neck Cancer Audit (HANA), which aims to collect data on all head and neck cancer patients in England and Wales.

PROFESSOR PETER SASEINI

Professor Peter Sasieni is the Academic Director of the Cancer Research UK Cancer Prevention of the King’s Clinical Trials Unit at King’s College London. He is an expert in cancer prevention, clinical trials and cancer screening, and his work influences both policy and practice.

MR DAVID VERITY

Trained in ophthalmology in UK, Mr Verity undertook Fellowships in oculoplastics before joining the consultant staff at Moorfields Eye Hospital in 2004. With publications in the fields of immunogenetics, eyelid, lacrimal and orbital disease, he now specialises in managing complex adnexal disease, and is an active teacher both at national and international levels.

Mr Verity is the current President of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society (BOPSS), and  Honorary Treasurer of the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS). In 2009, he was elected to the Orbital Society, and between 2010 and 2016 was Editor-in Chief of the international journal ORBIT. In 2013, he joined the faculty of the European School for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology (ESASO). Finally, with a life-long interest in the humanitarian ophthalmic work of the Order of St John, in 2018 he was appointed Hospitaller of the Order, is a Trustee of the Eye Hospital Group, and current Chair of the St John Ophthalmic Association.

MR GEOFF CHIU

Geoff is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at The Royal Bolton Hospital and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. Geoff is also research active in his speciality with several peer-reviewed publications under his belt. He has been a member of the NFORC Scientific Advisory Committee with a Special Interest in Dentoalveolar Surgery since 2017. In this role he contributes to the work of NFORC in several ways including sharing scientific knowledge and experience, reviewing and evaluating research proposals, developing trial protocols and funding applications and promoting research education for established surgeons and Oral and Maxillofacial trainees.

MR JAGTAR DHANDA

Jagtar is a Consultant Maxillofacial and Head and Neck Surgeon at Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead. Jagtar is also an academic surgeon who has a keen interest in understanding cancer metastasis and the development of biomarkers for head and neck malignancies. His role at NFORC is to provide clinical leadership to drive projects forward, ensure funding and execution.
